Performance Collision Center News - Local and National Stories covering Indianapolis BMW Repair, Indy MINI Repair, collision repair, bumper repair, and Auto Paint and Body Repair in Zionsville, Carmel, Whitestown, Noblesville and Fishers.
Did you know that long-time Zionsville business, Pearson Ford has a green side? I'm not just talking about the Ford Fusion Hybrid. Pearson Ford is celebrating 50 years of business in the community on Aug. 4 to 7 with special deals and events for kids and adults (free massages, ladies) each day.
What few people may know is that their collision repair center is green. Performance Collision Center, which sits just north and back of the dealership on Michigan Road, has adopted state of the art equipment and sustainable practices. This means a healthier environment, not only for their employees, but also for the local community. Rich Pedigo, collision center manager, delighted me with his plans for change.
First to go was solvent-based paint. Switching to water based paint cuts their pollution nearly in half. How? Both in air quality - no VOCs which pollute the air we breathe, and in water quality - fewer chemicals in the clean-up process. Pedigo also has initiated sustainable practices for the office including recycling of paper, cardboard, cans and plastic. They are purchasing recycled paper for office use and turning off computers and lights overnight. Automatic shutoffs have been installed in bathrooms, and Pedigo encourages his staff to turn off lights in rooms that are not occupied.
The body shop also recycles their steel and aluminum parts through Omnisource, and PCC uses waste oil to heat the center. Pedigo is further committed to making Performance Collision Center a "greener" body shop by banning Styrofoam. He recognizes the long decomposition time for this product as well as its inability to be recycled. Congrats to Rich Pedigo and PCC for their environmental commitment.
